Who we are
Woodpecker Carpentry & Property Solutions (“we”, “us”) operates this website. We are the data controller for the personal information described below, which means we’re responsible for deciding how it’s used.
For anything about your data — including any of the requests listed under your rights — contact us at info@woodpeckerprojects.co.uk or call 07712 345678.
What we collect, and why
When you send an enquiry
Our contact form asks for your name, phone number, email address, optionally your postcode, the service you’re interested in, and whatever you write in the message box.
We use it for one thing: to reply to you and, if you go ahead, to quote for and carry out the work.
Lawful basis: where you’re asking us to quote, this is necessary for a contract or steps leading to one. Otherwise it’s our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about our services.
We won’t add you to a mailing list or send you marketing you didn’t ask for.
When you browse the site
Our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic request information (the page requested, your browser type, timestamps) to serve pages and protect the site from attack and abuse. This happens for every website you visit and is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure.
The photographs on this site are delivered by Cloudinary, so your browser requests them from Cloudinary’s servers and they receive your IP address and browser information in the process. No cookies are set for this.
Analytics — only if you agree
If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful. It tells us things like which services get the most interest and whether people are visiting on phones or computers.
Lawful basis: your consent. Nothing from Google loads until you accept, and you can change your mind at any time — see cookies below.
Google Analytics processes your IP address (truncated before storage), device and browser information, the pages you view and roughly where in the world you are. It does not tell us your name. We have not enabled Google Signals, advertising features, or any cross-site advertising profiling.
Who else handles your data
We keep the list of third parties deliberately short. Each of these is a processor acting on our instructions, except Google Analytics, where Google also acts for its own purposes as set out in its own terms.
| Who | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Web3Forms | Delivers contact form submissions to our inbox | United States |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website and protects it from attack | Global network, including the US |
| Cloudinary | Stores and delivers the photographs on this site, which involves your browser requesting them from Cloudinary | United States and global CDN |
| Google (Analytics) | Website statistics — only with your consent | United States and elsewhere |
| Google (Fonts) | Serves the fonts used on this site, which involves your browser requesting them from Google | United States |
| Our email provider | Receives and stores your enquiry as an email | — |
Some of these are outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred abroad, it’s protected by the safeguards UK law requires — normally the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with additional protections where needed.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone else for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don’t lead to work | Up to [12 months], then deleted |
| Records relating to work we carried out | As long as needed for the job, guarantees and our legal and tax obligations (normally 6 years) |
| Analytics data | Retained by Google under our configured retention period (14 months by default) |
| Server and security logs | Short-term, as set by our hosting provider |
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
- Erase your data, where we have no continuing reason to keep it
- Restrict or object to how we use it, including anything based on our legitimate interests
- Portability — receive your data in a transferable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on (analytics cookies)
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above. We’ll respond within one month. You’ll never be charged, and asking won’t affect the service you receive.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator — ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. This site uses as few as it can get away with.
| Cookie / storage | Purpose | Set when | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
wp-consent (browser local storage, not a cookie) | Remembers your cookie choice so we don’t keep asking | As soon as you choose | Until you clear it |
_ga | Google Analytics — distinguishes visitors | Only after you accept | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics — keeps track of a visit | Only after you accept | 2 years |
No advertising or tracking cookies are used, and no cookies at all are set before you accept. If you decline, we delete any Google Analytics cookies that are already there.
Changing your mind
Use the button at the bottom of this page to review or change your cookie choice. You can also clear cookies and site data through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block cookies entirely.
Children
This site is aimed at people arranging building and carpentry work, and isn’t directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect data about anyone under 13.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal data, we’ll update this page and the date shown at the bottom.
